ELGG is originally the creation of Ben Werdmuller and David Tosh. The concept behind the system is to develop a fully customizable learning landscape. To achieve this ELGG is a hybrid of weblogging, e-portfolios and social networking. It is hoped this combination of features with help promote student engagement in learning through reflection in an academic and social setting.

Eu vi o link no Xemele. O Felipe colocou um teste à disposição aqui; achei muito interessante, pois os sistemas de e-learning são muito pesados e, muitas vezes, repetem a forma de aprendizado professor/aluno. Algumas outras tentativas estão indo para a mesma direção do elgg, como é o caso do drupaled. Creio que o e-learning deve seguir essa tendência. Não aquele e-learning que objetiva o treinamento e capacitação; mas projetos voltados aos trabalhos colaborativos.

PS: O Moodle também embute no seu sistema uma idéia mais colaborativa, mais emergente e uma relação mais alargada da relação aluno/professor. Embora, o Moodle seja um software muito grande para aplicações práticas.
